We just completed the first stop on the Intel Extreme Masters Global Challenge, one of the most prestigious eSports tournaments in the world. 2011 marks the first year League of Legends has joined the circuit, and we've made an enormous splash in Cologne, Germany.
More than 121,000 fans tuned into our final match between Team Solomid and Counter Logic gaming, and over the course of the event more than 1.5 million summoners tuned in to watch our live coverage.
Even more exciting than the turnout were the matches themselves. The finals were nothing short of extraordinary; the match went a full three games, the third an absolute slugfest between the top two teams in North America. But in the end, only one team could take home the first place trophy: Counter Logic Gaming, led by series MVP HotshotGG, whose efforts were recognize with the ''I Carried Gamescom'' Award!

Their ability to bounce back from Team SoloMid's onslaught and establish control over the map allowed them to capture first place at the Intel Extreme Masters Global Challenge Cologne.
