Riot Games welcomes Matt Marcou as eSports Manager Posted by Administrator on Tue, 2010-07-06 20:11

Ladies and gentlemen,

Riot Games has been looking forward to Season One as the beginning of League of Legends as a competitive title. With this in mind, it is my pleasure to introduce you to the latest addition to our staff: Matt Marcou. Those of you who have come to us from a background in competitive Defense of the Ancients may recognize him as the former general manager of Team Evil Geniuses, and the founder of the Fire and Ice Tournament Series. While Fire and Ice might be the reason that Monsieur Marcou’s reputation precedes him in this particular venue, Matt’s eSports experience includes over nine years managing online and LAN events, and the sponsorship of his own professional team, VerGe Gaming. I might add that he is also a class act and an ambassador for the field of competition gaming.

As we move towards the beginning of Season One, Matt will help to aggressively drive League of Legends forward into the competitive space. His experience in the field will help us to arrange sponsorship, organize LAN and online tournaments, and coordinate other events related to Riot’s vision of League of Legends as a competitive medium. We are extremely excited to have the opportunity to work with a man of his particular talents, and we are confident that the future of League of Legends as an eSport is in very capable hands.

Matt Marcou is an extremely accomplished, respected, and well connected individual in the eSports community, and we couldn’t be more excited to have him on board here at Riot Games helping lead League of Legends towards a bright future in the competitive realm.
