Harpoon? Check. Flamethrower? Check. Triple rockets? Check, check, and check. Just to be safe, we’ll throw in one mischievous yordle whose mechanical prowess has been used to make the most diabolical machination ever to hit the Fields of Justice. Meet Rumble, the Mechanized Menace. His desire to see you burned, speared, crushed, stomped, blown up, or otherwise grievously injured, has him pushing his war machine way beyond what would be considered safe operating procedure, even if he might blow a gasket. But don’t call him short. That’ll really grind his gears.

Here’s quick teaser for another upcoming champion somewhat further off on the horizon. And while there’s still a bit of time before you’ll be watching him take to the Fields of Justice, don’t be alarmed if you hear from him again sometime in the future!

We told you that more details on the 2011 World Cyber Games would follow shortly … here they are.

The WCG USA has announced the start of their National qualifiers. There will be a total of four online tournaments and the winner of each one will qualify for a live tournament to be held in the late summer/ early fall. Rules for the competition can be found here. If you think that your team has what it takes to represent the stars & stripes, then you should register at the WCG USA site.

This past February we began soliciting applicants to help us begin testing on our new PvP.net patcher. Since then, many players have stepped up to help test the new software in preparation for a broader release.

After this first round of testing, we’re ready for primetime. Very soon, the new PvP.net patcher will become the default patcher distributed to players just beginning their career as League of Legends Summoners.

It’s been quite a while since we first launched League of Legends with its original lineup of 40 champions. Since then there have been quite a few additions to the roster. But with all these exciting new faces, we wouldn’t want anyone to lose sight of some of our old favorites. And so in this patch we decided to do something to make some of our classics shine a bit brighter.

With the current patch, Ryze, Morgana, and Malphite have had their cost in Influence Points permanently reduced. Morgana and Malphite have had their costs reduced from 3150 IP to 1350 IP, and Ryze has had his cost reduced from 1350 IP all the way down to 450 IP!

If you haven’t yet picked up these classic League of Legends champions, there’s never been a better time to add them to your collection!

As you know, over the course of the past week there have been issues with League of Legends servers that may have had a negative impact on your experience. This is not the quality of service that we strive to maintain, and we would like to apologize for any disruption that this may have caused to your regular gameplay schedule. The stability of the PvP.net platform remains our number one priority, and we are constantly working to reduce service impacting issues such as these.

And so, in compensation for any lost play time you may have experienced, we will be awarding all those players who have logged into our North American or European platforms in the past month 350 Riot Points. We are grateful for your patience, and we hope that this small token of our appreciation helps you along the way to unlocking your next item in League of Legends. Please note that these bonus Riot Points will take up to 72 hours to distribute, so if you don’t get yours right away, don’t worry. They’re coming!

In the Friday Night Game of the Week, CLG looks to remain unbeaten as it faces WHALE in a tough early season match. WHALE will look to field a big upset and turn around some early season struggles against one of the best teams in the world.

On Thursday Night, Team Liquid gets its first chance in the spotlight as they face Defy All Odds. DaO, one of the EMS qualified teams, will also be looking to turn its fortunes after early trouble and a 0-2 record.
